Each bottle of 120 mL oral liquid contains liquid extract of garlic (Allium sativum L.), liquid extract of fennel seed (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.), liquid extract of summer savory leaf (Satureja hortensis L.), liquid extract of Persian hogweed fruit (Heracleum persicum Desf.), liquid extract of shirazi thyme aerial branches (Zataria multiflora Boiss.), liquid extract of clove flower buds (Eugenia caryophyllus), opium tincture

Extraction solvent: Ethanol 30% (v/v)

What Alerguard Oral solution is and what it is used for

Alerguard is a herbal medicinal product that has that can be helpful in reducing the length of hospitalization in patients with COVID-19 and it has been proven in clinical trials for the drug product

What you need to know before you take Alerguard Oral solution

Do not take Alerguard Oral solution

If you are allergic to garlic, plants of the liliaceae family, thyme and summer savory or other labiates (Lamiaceae), fennel, clove and persian hogweed or other plants of the apiaceae or to any of the other ingredients

If you are under 18 years old

If you suffer from liver and kidney failure, CHF, cancer, Immune deficiency disease and tuberculosis

Warnings and precautions

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Alerguard Oral solution. For complaints lasting longer than one week, or if shortness of breath, fever or purulent sputum occurs, a doctor should be contacted immediately

Do not use Alerguard oral solution without medical advice if you suffer from gastritis or gastric ulcer. Because of garlic extract content of this product, tell your doctor if you suffer from bleeding disorders before using this product. If the symptoms worsen during the use of the medicinal product, consult a doctor or pharmacist

This medication contains 2.74 mL opium tincture 1% in 120 mL bottle

Other medicines and Alerguard Oral solution

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines especially anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs

Avoid concomitant use of this medicine and these drugs: Isoniazid, Saquinavir, Tramadol, Naltrexone, Tranylcypromine, Linezolid, Furazolidone and Non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTI)-type antiretroviral drugs

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Alerguard oral solution should not be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding due to insufficient studies

Driving and using machines

Due to the presence of alcohol, after taking this drug, avoid activities that require concentration, such as driving

Important information about some of the ingredients of Alerguard Oral solution

This medicine contains alcohol. The alcohol content should be taken into account in children taking higher doses than recommended and high-risk groups such as patients with liver disease or epilepsy

How to take Alerguard Oral solution

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor, pharmacist or qualified Healthcare Professional has told you. Check with your doctor, pharmacist or qualified Healthcare Professional if you are not sure

Always use the enclosed measuring cup

Dosage: in first two days take 5 mL every 4 hours, in the second two days take 5 mL every 6 hours, then take 5 mL every 8 hours for 5-10 days

Drink some liquid (preferably water) after taking this medication. Shake before use!

If you take more Alerguard Oral liquid than you should

In case of overdose, gastric complaints, vomiting and diarrhea are possible. In this case, please notify your doctor. Your doctor can decide whether any other action is necessary

If you forget to take Alerguard Oral liquid

Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. Continue taking Alerguard Oral liquid as prescribed by your doctor or as described in this leaflet

If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist

Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them

gastrointestinal complaints, such as cramps, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea may occur

In rare cases it may increase heart rate because of Persian hogweed

Because of fennel extract, this medication may cause photodermatitis in rare cases

:Stop taking the oral liquid and tell your doctor immediately if

• you get any swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat
• you have any difficulty in swallowing or breathing (including shortness of breath)
• you get a skin rash after taking the oral liquid

The above symptoms may mean you are having a very rare, serious allergic reaction to this medicine

Reporting of side effects

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes any possible side       effects not listed in this leaflet

How to store Alerguard Oral solution

Do not store above 30°C. store this medicine in the original container to protect the contents from light. Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and the bottle. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Close tightly after use. After opening, use within 4 week

Do not throw away medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. These measures help protect the environment
