Dosage form: 

30 gram ointment in an aluminium tube including leaflet in the box.  

 

 

Ingredients: 

1.5% of Capsicum annum L oleoresin with common name of cayenne pepper from family of Solanaceae.  

 

 

Introduction:

The commission E reported local hyperemic and local nerve-damaging activity. A topical analgesic activity is also proven. The mode of action is not completely known but it can be due to decreasing substance P in peripheral nervous system and prevent the accumulation of substance P in joint can lead to inflammation of the area and cause later rheumatoid arthritis.  

 

 

Indications:

1) Analgesic and painful muscle spasm in area of shoulder, arm and spine of adult and children.

2) Rheumatoid Arthritis pain, neuralgia, lumbago.  

 

 

Dosage: 

Unless otherwise prescribed, apply locally 3-4 times per day to affected area each time equal to the size of a pea.  Side effects: Hypersensitivity in area is possible.  

 

 

Contraindications: 

Application on injured skin, allergies to cayenne preparation. 

 

 

Interactions:

No additional heat application.

 

 

Precautions: 

1) Cayenne preparations irritate the mucous membrane even in very low concentration and cause burning sensation, especially the eyes. In case of contact wash with warm water thoroughly.

2) Don’t use in open wounds.

3) It is only for external use and seeks medical assist.

4) Duration of administration is no longer than two days; 14 days must be passed before a new application can be use in the same location.

5)After each use, close the tube door.  

 

 

Using during pregnancy:

No restriction known.

 

 

Using during lactation:

No restriction known.
