Active ingredients:

Ginkgo biloba.Product description:Ginkgo is one of the oldest living tree species on earth. Ginkgo was taken to Europe from China in 18th century. Each tablet of Tebokan contains 40 mg of ginkgo dry extract. Ginkgo is high in flavonoids and it is a powerful antioxidant.

 

 

Indications:

1-    Improving memory function.

2-    Equilibrium disorders.

3-    Vertigo and tinnitus (vascular origin)

4-    Intermittent claudication.     

 

 

Mechanism of action:

Ginkgo biloba exerts ischemic protective and antioxidant effects through the flavonoids. This occurs through a free scavenger action and prevention of lipid peroxidation. Lipid peroxidation is involved in producing tissue and vascular damage, and neuronal loss, which may lead to dementia. Ginkgo increases blood flow to prevent the progression of dementia ischemia. This herb also has spasmolytic properties through direct action on alpha-adrenoceptors.

 

 

Dosage:

One tablet, three times a day.

 

 

Side effects:

In rare cases it can cause GI problems, headache and allergy.

 

 

Contraindications:

1-    In patients known to be hypersensitive to Ginkgo preparations.

2-    Patients with known risk factors for intracranial hemorrhage.    

 

 

Cautions:

An increase in bleeding time have been associated with chronic Ginkgo ingestion in patients with high bleeding risk.

 

 

Drug interactions:

Antithrombolytic Agents (anticoagulants, antiplatelets and aspirin).

 

 

Use in pregnancy and lactation:

Be cautious and use this medication under physician supervision.
